2022 Team Captains

Favorite Memory: Crying tears of joy after occs freshman year because i PR’d and worker really hard the whole season as a freshman on varsity.
What I enjoy doing when I’m not running: watching Tv and movies, hanging out with friends, playing basketball.

Who inspires you and why: Jess Morris, she was the kindest, warmest, and best leader I know. she was great at being a team player and taking younger kids under her wings, she had a great relationships with girls of all grade levels. She has an amazing relationship with Jesus and is very smart and athletic.

I think people would be surprised to know: I am lactose intolerant

My favorite Pig-out food: Bibibop

My favorite quote: “it’s not that deep”-myself and “A moment of pain is worth a lifetime of glory”-unbroken

My advice to younger teammates: Just because you fail does not mean you are finished. sometimes things don’t work out in life no matter how hard you work. it’s most important to love others around you and keep your head up. You can’t control everything.

My biggest accomplishment during my time in XC: running a PR of 22:01, being on varsity for 4 years, and becoming captain.

When I graduate I hope to: I am playing college basketball at MVNU and i hope to get a degree in a field i enjoy (i have no idea what i want to do lol)

Favorite Memory: Freshman year camp

What I enjoy doing when I’m not running: Hanging out with my friends

Who inspires you and why: Sarah Lacina from survivor because she is an independent female that has become successful in her career and is a survivor winner.

I think people would be surprised to know: how much I really know about survivor.

My favorite Pig-out food: Mexican food

My favorite quote: She believed she could so she did

My advice to younger teammates: Listen to your body when it starts to hurt and tell coach about it

My biggest accomplishment during my time in XC: Getting the opportunity to lead the team this year (and being undefeated in the skits)

When I graduate I hope to:  Get my degree in chemical engineering so I can help better the environment

Favorite Memory: Camp my freshman year, getting to spend the night at the big cabin was a really good bonding experience for the whole team. The raid against the boys is also a favorite of mine! 

What I enjoy doing when I'm not running:

I love binge-watching shows and rereading my books. 

Who inspires you and why: My mom! I really admire her strength and her advocacy for children and women alike. She enjoys her many jobs and just does what she wants to do, she won't be forced to do something she doesn't like. 

I think people would be surprised to know: I'm actually a huge musical nerd but I don't really play that kind of music often because people usually don't tend to like it!

My favorite Pig-out food: Baby back bbq ribs!!

My favorite quote: "Just keep swimming" -Dory 

My advice to younger teammates: While wanting to do good at a meet is a very good mindset, understanding that sometimes there will be bad races is just as important. Sometimes you have to just wash it off and learn from it so you can do better the next time around. 

My biggest accomplishment during my time in XC: Running my PR and becoming captain

When I graduate I hope to: Go to college and medical school to become a labor and delivery nurse.

Favorite Memory:  The twenty one pilots concert I went to along with the sleep over I had with my friends afterwards

What I enjoy doing when I’m not running: Drawing

Who inspires you and why:  Sosa because she’s so positive and pushes and supports me in my running and art.

I think people would be surprised to know:  I have a more gothic fashion sense.

My favorite Pig-out food:  Pizza Rolls

My favorite quote:
“These cross country skills come in clutch when drunk men try and give me their pants!”

My advice to younger teammates: Be present and take every opportunity with the team! It’ll be gone before you know it!

My biggest accomplishment during my time in XC: Getting 4th at London with absolutely no warm up.

When I graduate I hope to:  Go to SCAD and study animation.

Favorite Memory: freshman year skit

What I enjoy doing when I’m not running: hanging out with friends and family

Who inspires you and why: my parents inspire me because they work so hard and support me no matter what.

I think people would be surprised to know: I did swim team for 7 years.

My favorite Pig-out food: Oreos

My favorite quote: everything happens for a reason.

My advice to younger teammates:
Enjoy every moment and take it one day at a time.

My biggest accomplishment during my time in XC: Running at London for my first race of the season junior year after recovering from jaw surgery.

When I graduate I hope to:
Go to college and become a nurse.

Favorite Memory:  Mile time trial and camp skit over the summer

What I enjoy doing when I’m not running:  Going to graeters ice cream with family and friends

Who inspires you and why:  everyone because each person has something different to teach you

I think people would be surprised to know: I am from Michigan

My favorite Pig-out food: pepperoni Pizza

My favorite quote: You will face many defeats in life, but never let yourself be defeated.- maya angelou

My advice to younger teammates:  always give 110% in everything you do

My biggest accomplishment during my time in XC: diversifying my running style from the 100m on track to longer distances

When I graduate I hope to:  Attend a four year college major in Cellular and molecular biology with a minor in business management

Favorite Memory: Cross country camp my freshman year

What I enjoy doing when I’m not running: reading, being with friends and family, watching hallmark movies

Who inspires me and why: Camryn Cummings inspires me the most because even when she is going through something difficult in her life she still puts others feelings and needs before her own.

I think people would be surprised to know: My favorite thing to do in my free time is read

My favorite pig out food: Cheddar and sour cream ruffles

My favorite quote: Everything happens for a reason and if you don’t understand something, you’re in the happening.

My advice to younger teammates: Highschool goes by faster than you think. Nothing is ever as big as it seems so enjoy every moment you get.

My biggest accomplishment during my time in XC: Working through injury and learning to take care of my body properly.

When I graduate I hope to: Get into my dream college

Favorite Memory from xc: the dance party at camp

What I enjoy doing when I’m not running: Reading, photography and hanging out with friends.

Who inspires you and why: my grandma because she is always very supportive, passionate, understanding, and loving.

I think people would be surprised to know: cross country is one of the sports I said I would never ever do in high school but here I am and I love it!

My favorite Pig-out food: bibibop, tortilla chips or oatmeal chocolate chip cookies!

My favorite quote: “When your hourglass runs out of sand you can’t flip it over start again, take every breath God gives you for what it’s worth.”

My advice to younger teammates:  Remember to only focus on the things that are in your control like your mindset and don’t stress about the things you can’t change.

My biggest accomplishment during my time in XC: Starting out and pushing myself through the first week or so of practices when I had never really ran more than 2 miles at a time before.

When I graduate I hope to: stay in touch with all my friends when I go off to college.
